Our Value to Our Clients In real life, it is ones behavior that is the driving force in determining success, mediocrity or failure. Your behavior will play a critical role in determining how successful you are in building, managing and maintaining wealth, and in achieving the things in life that are most important to you. Our philosophy of advice is that by far the most important factor determining the long-term investment returns people get in real life is their own behavior. In order to earn more, and in many cases much more on their investments, investors need to manage their behavior. But unfortunately, they do not do that. Instead, they do something else, in fact a whole lot of other things. They do them through a series of fairly common, fairly predictable behavioral mistakes. The three most common misbehaviors are chasing performance, buying excessively during market peaks and panic selling during market declines. So, for example, the issue for us is not predicting when markets will peak or bottom out – which no one can consistently do – but managing the way our clients respond to those feelings of uncertainty, euphoria, fear, panic and despair (all very human reactions) that occur during normal market cycles. Our Value Proposition to you is simple: In addition to providing you with personalized Financial Planning and Investment Management Services, we will provide you with on-going behavioral advice to help you continue to make good decisions, and avoid making inappropriate decisions, about what to do, and what not to do, regarding your finances. Of course, before we can do that, we must first sit down with you and determine exactly what it is you are trying to accomplish, how much time you have in which to accomplish it, and what resources you bring to the effort. Then we can help you develop a written Financial Plan for pursuing your goals, and select a high quality portfolio of investments that are extremely well suited to your long-term goals. We know that our behavioral advice – coaching you to continue to do the right things and to avoid doing the wrong things, especially when your peers are giving in to the fads or fears of the moment – must be worth a great deal more than our fee, or you would not work with us. It is that simple. One of the main reasons people choose to work with us is because they clearly understand the value of that advice. We appreciate your giving us the time to state the nature of our value to our clients.
